Terms & Conditions

Returns & Refunds

1. The customer is responsible for return postage costs.

2. Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling Regulations) the customer has 7 working days after receipt of their order to cancel and receive a full refund. Orders may not be cancelled after this period except for under your legal rights. There's no exception to this and any dresses cancelled after 7 working days, and returned, will be sent back to you and you will be invoiced for postage costs. THERE ARE SOME ITEMS THAT ARE NON RETURNABLE - PLEASE READ POINT 6.

3. Returns are not accepted outside of the UK.

4. Items must be returned in same condition you receive them, and MUST be returned via a trackable, appropriately insured service.

5. UK Outbound shipping costs up to a maximum of (£7.95) will be refunded. IMPORTANT: Any additional postage costs for areas outside of England, or any additional costs for special delivery, taxes, etc, will not be refunded. Rush charges are not refunded as we will have already paid them to our supplier.


DRY cleaning and Other:
We advise spot cleaning our dresses. Please DO NOT dry-clean any dress with beading. Many dresses can be hand-washed in cool water (please call for advice). As there are many variations to our dresses, please call for advice on cleaning. Our flowers and corsages are glued onto a pin or glued together - we use glue as we find it more effective than thread. Occasionally, beads can be glued. Please be careful not to clean or wash any glued items using heat.

The hems on chiffon and organza dresses are almost impossible to get 100% straight as the fabric is flexible. If we have had to use pins to create ruching or folds, pin holes may be seen in the fabric, it's unavoidable.

If you receive a dress with a fault, please allow us time to rectify and return the item to you.

We define a corset as a lace-up back, not a full built-in corset. Some styles do not lend themselves to having a full corset down the back, so we use a combination of a corset and zip. Please call for further details. Our dresses normally include cups. They are a standard size and not made to your specific bra cup size.

Our standard delivery charge is just £7.95 per package. This is a 5-7 working days delivery service for UK mainland customers, providing the item is in stock. 7-14 days outside England. It's likely that we won't contact you before delivery - if you'd like us to, please contact us after placing your order.

Please note; you will be responsible to pay for any taxes or custom duties when your item arrives from outside of the UK.

Delivery Time 
The majority of dresses take 8-10 (PLUS DELIVERY 1-2 weeks) to make - from the date of the last communication. For example, if you ordered on the 15th of June, forgot to select a colour (or anything else) and didn't confirm your choice until the 25th - your order starts on the 25th. Not the 15th.

If you change the design, (change the waist line, switch the top of one dress with the bottom of another, add beaded etc), or order a bespoke dress from a picture for example... YOUR DRESS WILL TAKE 12-14 WEEKS.

Please allow an additional week for delivery (from supplier to customer as most of Courtesan Boutique dresses are made outside of the UK)

PLEASE ENSURE YOUR DELIVERY ADDRESS IS CORRECT. We WON'T contact you before your dress is dispatched.

Ordering a dress in a standard size means your dress will be made to the measurements shown on our size chart, not your body measurements, if you're a size 18 in a high street shop, it doesn't mean you're a size 18 dress - you must measure yourself please. Our dresses have no 'give' in them. If you are between sizes, the WILL NOT fit!!!!!.

Non standards sizes
This means we will make the bust, waist, hip and length of a dress to the nearest size in accordance with our size chart, i.e. Bust: size 10, Waist: size 12, Hips: size 14, Length: 150 cms.

It doesn't mean that we will be making your dress to your exact measurements. It's essential that you follow our measuring guide. If you ask a dress maker (or similar) to take your measurements for you, they must follow our guide - not their own.

Your dress may still need some alterations/adjustments once you receive it which is something that you need to take into consideration please. If you are more than a size between your bust, waist and hip measurement, you will almost certainly need alterations. Apex to apex, shoulder to apex, shoulder to waist, straps, low hip, bra size, are not taken into account. This is not a made to measure service.

Dresses made in non standard sizes  
On receiving your dress(es) you have any concerns regarding any aspect of your dress, you must return your dress within 7 days. On receiving you dress(es) you feel that it has not been made to the measurements requested (allowing for a 2 cm margin either way) you must return the dress within 7 days. If you cannot do this, then we must make it 100% clear that there is nothing we can do. We would never send a dress out that we thought was incorrect. Our dresses are always measured by at least two people. WE WILL NOT PAY FOR ALTERATIONS OUTSIDE OF OUR COMPANY. On receipt of your dress we will measure it. If it's incorrect, we will alter is at our expense and return it at our expense. If not, we will return the dress at your expense.

Fitting General
Please bear in mind that the dress you tried on in our boutique or via Try Before You Buy may not be your size and therefore your dress may look different. The width of the ‘skirt’ will be proportionate to your hip measurement, not to the smaller or larger size dress that you may have tried on.

Occasionally/rarely, the manufacture of your item may be delayed. This can be for various reasons such as material shortages, import delays or higher than anticipated demand. We will, of course, make every effort to keep you informed.

We do not offer any discount for ordering more than 1 dress.





Bespoke/Custom Made Dresses from Drawings/Pictures

We accept no responsibility if you change a dress in any way from the original design and are not happy with either the new design, how the dress looks, or fits. If we are working from a customer’s own pictures and inspiration, we do not claim to be able to make the dress exactly as in the picture. We do not accept any responsibility for a dress that may not be made as a “customer had imagined”. You may have to seek further alterations in order to get the dress looking just how you want it, this is not a service that Courtesan offer. 

Zips: the zips on our dresses are typically YKK and sewn in securely. If you decide to have your dress made tight, or you gain weight from the time you were measured, the zip can pull apart. Please note: once finished, your dress will have been measured by at least three professionals before it’s dispatched.

If you're unsure of the colour, please order a swatch first. Colours often look different in the flesh. If you order a dress in a non returnable colour and don't like it, then we will not accept a return. A colour can be described in many different ways - what we believe to be Light Blue for example, may not be the same as your own definition of Light Blue - PLEASE ORDER A SWATCH. Colours vary from fabric to fabric. For example; if you order a Baby Blue dress in chiffon and a Baby Blue tie in satin - the colours will not be the same. Please allow a colour difference from swatch to dress, as different rolls of fabric are used. Please use swatches AS A GUIDE ONLY. If you order 1 dress, then a day, week, month later order another dress to match - we can't guarantee that it will be the same colour. IF YOU SEPARATE AN ORDER, THE COLOURS MAY NOT MATCH.

Colours (including lining and cotton)
Due to using different rolls of fabric, all colours are subject to slight variation. If you split any part of your order, we cannot guarantee that the colours will match. The colour of the lining fabric and cotton is chosen by us and won’t necessarily match the colour the dress. Net and tulle is dyed and the colour is unpredictable – the colour will be as close as we can get it, but won’t be the same colour as the dress.

Why could my dress need alterations?
Other measurements such as upper bust, under bust, apex to apex, shoulders, cup size and shoulder to waist , are not taken. Dresses made to cover every single body measurement require several fittings and potential alterations which we can’t offer for the prices we charge. Measurement taken outside of our boutique:

You will be fully responsible for any alterations that may be required if measurements are taken by yourself or any other independent party.

Problems with the dress (not sizing):
In the unlikely event that you have concerns or problems with your dress please call or email (enquiries@cboutique.com, 01903 242234 ). You will need to return the dress to us, or come into our Boutique in Worthing. If any adjustments/work is undertaken by a seamstress/yourself we will not reimburse you for this. Any work undertaken on a dress will be done by our own seamstress.

We take great care to ensure that outfits are packed correctly

Try Before You Buy
From the day that the package containing the dress is signed for, you have 5 days to look at the dress and then it must be returned. There is a £10 charge for every day that you keep the dress over the 5 day loan period – this excludes any delays that the courier may be experiencing.

You are responsible for return shipping costs (we will enclose returns bag and label). Dress(es) must be returned via a trackable, signed for service with adequate insurance. Royal Mail Special Delivery will be adequate (1st Class Signed For does not have enough compensation coverage for losses so this is NOT adequate). You will be charged for a dress lost in transit if a non-trackable service, with inadequate insurance, is used.

The Information that we collect is:- Name, Your Address, Email address, Telephone Number

We collect personal information to allow us to process and fulfil your orders. Email addresses or telephone numbers collected allow us to contact you if there is a problem with an order

By becoming a customer of Courtesan Boutique and by providing us with your email address, you consent to receive communication in relation to our products, services and special offers that you may be interested in. This will usually be in the format of a newsletter. This is not shared with any other company. If you do not to receive our newsletter, please contact us.

We use cookies to store items in your Shopping Basket between visits. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually change your browser to prevent that. Even without a cookie, you can still use most of the features in our store, including placing items in your Shopping Basket and purchasing them.

Stored Information & Security
Security policies are designed to protect the personal details under our control. The Information that we have collected from you is maintained in a secure web server, which we believe to be a well protected and secure environment. We don’t store, or cannot see your bank account or credit/debit card details.
